Lisa's Gizmo: "Surf Life"

Here is a recently finished portrait of Gizmo, a Pekingese dog that belongs to my sister's friend Lisa. It is an 11 x 14 inch oil painting. This posted image has had the size and quality adjusted for uploading purposes. It's called "Surf Life" because Gizmo wears a shirt that says that while she's floating on a raft in her pool.

Second of two....

Here's the second of two large still lifes (16 x 20 inches) of flowers from my sister's garden in a red glass vase (found for free at the dump). Time to call it done because I need to move on to the next (an 11 x 14 pet portrait for my sister's friend, which I hope to be able to work on sometime between now and Christmas....)

Largest size so far.....

This is the first of 2 still lifes that are the largest size canvases I've painted so far. They are each 16 x 20 inches. Both are arrangements of flowers from my sister's garden in a red glass vase I got for free (at the dump). I haven't finished the second painting yet, but it has some different flowers in it than this one.
Once again I resized the image and adjusted the quality for upload purposes.

Flowers IX: Deb's Chrysanthemums with Raindrops

Time to call this painting done....It's an 8 x 10 oil. Of course, I had to resize / adjust quality for upload.

Most recent Plum Island painting (sketchy)...

Here's my most recent oil painting of a Plum Island scene. It's 11 x 14 inches. I'm calling it finished because I need to move on to the next (probably my sister's chrysanthemums after the rain). It's kind of sketchy compared to a lot of my other finished stuff. Of course, the image size / quality has been adjusted for quick upload.

A loved dog

This was a winter oil painting project to create a portrait of the beloved pet of a vet's good friend. I enjoyed the opportunity to paint in whites (the dog was a samoyed), reading tones and color into the shadows to create texture. Also, I painted an interior scene, which is not something I've been inclined to do until now. Later this year I might make an image that includes a human being! Three of the portraits measure 11 x 14 inches; the interior with the dog resting under the piano measures 9 x 12 inches.
