A loved dog

This was a winter oil painting project to create a portrait of the beloved pet of a vet's good friend. I enjoyed the opportunity to paint in whites (the dog was a samoyed), reading tones and color into the shadows to create texture. Also, I painted an interior scene, which is not something I've been inclined to do until now. Later this year I might make an image that includes a human being! Three of the portraits measure 11 x 14 inches; the interior with the dog resting under the piano measures 9 x 12 inches.
